Our private car with driver and the guide will be ready at your hotel for your overland trip to Kyaikhtiyo, known as Golden Rock Pagoda. Kyaikhtiyo is one of the most interesting and sacred Buddhist sites in Myanmar, the sacred golden boulder is balanced precariously and legendarily some hairs of Buddha placed in the pagoda and prevent from falling. Driving time will take about 4.5 hours; and we will make a short stop to visit Bago on the way and once you are in Kyaikhto City we will proceed to the base camp of Kinpun by local open truck to climb up the hill to reach to Yathae Taung 2nd base camp. There will be 2 options; either you will walk up about 40mins or taking another truck ride to Kyaikhtiyo (the Golden Rock). There are a lot of local teashops and rest places as well as local souvenir shops, some small shops which you can try traditional Myanmar medicine made from woods. Check in to the hotel and after refreshments, we will go for sightseeing to main sacred boulder and the pagoda; and see local people praying and offering the gold leaves to the main pagoda. Enjoy the stunning sunset color plays on top of the mountain in the evening!
We suggest waking up early for to enjoy beautiful sunrise views and a quiet morning stroll from summit. After breakfast at your hotel, we will head down towards the city of Kyaikhtiyo near base camp for sightseeing local market. And we will continue to our overland trip to Hpa An about 3hours passing the old city of Thahtone former Mon city, to the capital of the Kayin State surrounded by limestone cliffs, lakes and mountains. On arrival in Hpa An after check in to the hotel, we will start our exploration to the famous caves in the surrounding area. Together with guide we will explorer shallow Kaw-Goon cave a natural limestone cave with lots of Buddha statues locally know as cave of ten thousand Buddhas. Continuously we will visit to the hidden cave of Saddan; we walk through the cave about 25mins. No need to worry about exiting as our way back will be at the back of the cave to reach a lake full with beautiful lotus. We will have chance to take local small wooden canoe passing under giant rock mountain to reach to the entrance of the cave. In the evening we will take you to riverside area to enjoy colourful sunset while you're served drinks!
After breakfast at the hotel we will start our sightseeing to the local market with daily lives of local people. After that we will visit to Kyauk Kalatt monastery with beautiful lake and giant mountain of Zwekabin in the background. And then proceed to Zwekabin Mountain which stands out 800 meters above the lowland and is a milestone for the Kayin people living in this lush plain. A climb of hundreds of uneven steps to the monastery on the peak will reward you with an outstanding view. In the evening enjoy sunset at Shweyinmyaw Pagoda at the bank of Thanlwin River.
Breakfast at your hotel and time is your leisure and in the afternoon transfer you to the jetty where you will be on board for your river boat trip about 4 hours downstream towards Mawlamying through Thanlwin River enjoy river side local life and breathtaking scenery. On arrival in Mawlamying, you will be welcomed and proceed to you hotel. Rest of the day will be at free leisure.
Mawlamying - An attractive town with much leafy, a tropical area with hills at one side with a golden pagoda on top and the sea view on the other. Malamying is the capital city of Mon State, holding the number-fourth largest city in Myanmar with a population of over 300,000 people. The atmosphere with post-colonial decay is more palpable than in the developing cities like Yangon and Mandalay. In the morning after breakfast at hotel, together with guide we will proceed our sightseeing to the central market of Mawlamying, then we will transfer to the jetty for your boat trip to visit Bilu Island with small villages famous for local handy workshops producing tobacco pipe, local stone tablets, wood crafts etc. After visiting the island in the afternoon back to Mawlamying and drive up to a small hill up to reach old monastery of late Queen SeinTone where unique wood carving walls and ancient statues can be seen. Today sunset will be overview from the beautiful Kyaikthalan pagoda on top of the mountain toward mighty Thanlwin River and the city area.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will start our overland journeys to the most southern part of Myanmar to Dawei about 7.5hours (about 197 miles). We will also make a short stop at the world largest reclining Buddha of Win Sein Tawya monastery. From there about 1.2 hours further down-south to Thanbyuzayat is about 64km from Malamying and visit a Death Railway Museum with a small locomotive of bygone days to commemorate the start point of the tragic railway, and an Allied War Cemetery, resting-place for over 3,500 Allied POWs (Prisoners of War). And continue the journey takes passed through rubber plantation on a narrow, winding and bumpy road to reach Ye town. Before entering the Ye town, proceed to the Banana Mountain where stunning complex of Buddhist temples, shrines and a monastery. Upon arrival step the stairs for a panoramic view of the area. In the later transfer to the hotel and refreshments and relax.
After breakfast we will make a short stop for refreshments we will visit to Ko Yin Lay monastery and Mon style temples, walk up a bit further to the giant statue to see the panoramic view over the surrounding area in the background. After that we will head our journey to the direction of Dawei which will take us on a narrow, winding and sometime a bit bumpy road through the southern plateau; the stunning mountain range which divides the Mon and the Tanintharyi State. On the way we will make a rest stop at Kalaing Aung hills for refreshment. On arrival in the late afternoon, direct transfer to your hotel in Dawei, rest of the day will be at free leisure!
After breakfast in the morning, together with guide we will start our sightseeing in the capital of Thanitaryi division Dawei, known as Tavoy in colonial time. The town was one of the first cities settled by the English after the first of the three Anglo-Burmese wars, as result the towns have long history and interesting architecture building of colonial era. We will stroll through the main busy market of Dawei where local people busy with daily business process. After that we will prepare for an adventure trip to the fishing village of San Lan in the southwest of Dawei passing through rice fields and rural viallges. Firstly, from Dawei we will make about 35mins drive reach the check point in Long Lone Township to start our trekking journey towards San Lan village. The route will take your about 2hours through the jungle and small mountains to reach the fishing village. On arrival at the village we will make a short visit at the monastery and walk up to the small hill to enjoy overview of village and beach. After that we will leisurely walk through the village to visit local people, see how they depend on their daily living on fishing. There will be two options for your lunch today, having at a local home or a tea shop with simple fresh vegetables or sea-foods cooked by local style; or preparing simple picnic lunch box! Beach lovers should bring swimsuits, sun-cream and change as it’s a good place to enjoy the beach. Proceed our way back to Long Lone where our car is ready to take back us to Dawei; rest of the day will be at free leisure.
After breakfast in the morning at the hotel we will start our adventure overland drive to Myeik about 8 hours (157 miles), on the way we will make a short stop in small town Palaw; the small town area of Dawei ethnic people and famous for local products of fisheries and other local forest crafts. This overland journey will take on the narrow, winding and a bit bumpy road condition to reach the destination. Once we reach to Palaw for refreshments stop, it’s almost to the two third of the trip and we will continue to Myeik across the bridge through the rolling hills of the Southern Myanmar. While enjoy the green and beautiful landscape - we can make short-stops along the way to explorer serene scenery of paddy fields, hidden rural village areas with daily local lifestyle. On arrival in Myeik, direct transfer to the hotel and rest of the day will be at free leisure!
Today exploration will start with the biggest fish market in the area hosting the major economic of Myeik. After that we will proceed to riverside wharf where many wooden fishing boats are lying on muddy riverbank, we will be onboard on a private small wooden boat to visit Pahtaw Phatet Islands with big reclining Buddha and local crab farm working place. Continuously we will visit to the ship dockyard area where you will see local style wooden fishing boats maintaining or building all by human workforce. We will head back to Myeik and visit Theindawgyi Street with old monasteries where local people used to meditate and in the evening we will enjoy the panoramic view and breathtaking sunset over the islands from Phayargyi Pagoda.
After breakfast at the hotel in the early morning car and the guide will be ready for transfer to jetty for local ferry boat trip upstream to Tanintharyi River. The boat ride will take you bout 3.5 hours, but never get bored as you will be observing the way of local lifestyle going on and off to the shore for local products carrying. This legendry village of Tanintharyi was invasion by British colonial after the first Anglo-Burmese War in in 1824. The whole region of Tanintharyi Division was name after this village of Tanintharyi as it once was the capital of southern peninsula. This river trip will offer you the surrounding area of beautiful mountains along the river and fresh breeze refresh you while you enjoy your book on sundeck. On arrival in the village, we will go for sightseeing to the local village school area; your guide will take you to the old town area of post office, telegraph office and the village monument statue.
Your way back to Myeik will be in the afternoon by off road SUV through the paddy fields and thatch palm trees area until Myeik. On arrival in Myeik, direct transfer to the hotel and refreshments. Rest of the day will be at free leisure time!
Transfer to airport for domestic flight to Kawthaung. Upon arrival to the Kawthaung airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and proceed to your hotel for check in. Kawthaung is the busy border town with charming atmosphere; it is also major gate way for safari trips to hundreds of pristine islands in Mergui Archipelago. Today sightseeing will be to bustling market located at waterfront-lined with teashops, the strand road area. Then we will make our visit to the famous pagoda of the town Pyi Taw Aye on the top of the hill overview the town and near islands in Andaman Sea. We can also take a look to the iconic statue of King Bayinnaung brandishing a sword, stands at the crest of a hill on the cape at Victoria point. In the evening we will drive up to the hill locally known as 555 mountain to enjoy spectacular sunset.
Free time at leisure until transfer to airport for onward departure flight / boat from Kawthaung!
